This 5-Ingredient Football Dip is a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer perfect for game day or casual gatherings. Featuring layers of seasoned ground beef, creamy cheese, and zesty salsa, this warm dip comes together quickly and satisfies any crowd with its bold flavors and gooey melted cheddar topping.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat Layer

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 tbsp taco seasoning

Cheese and Sauce Layers

  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 (8 oz) jar salsa (mild, medium, or hot)
  • 1 ½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Cook Beef: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until no pink remains. Drain any excess fat, then stir in the taco seasoning until the meat is evenly coated and flavorful.
  2. Layer the Dip: Spread the softened cream cheese evenly across the bottom of a pie dish. Pour the salsa over the cream cheese layer, spreading gently to cover. Next, evenly spoon the seasoned ground beef over the salsa. Finally, sprinkle the shredded sharp cheddar cheese evenly over the meat layer.
  3. Bake the Dip: Cover the pie dish with aluminum foil to prevent the cheese from burning. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly. Remove the foil during the last few minutes if you want a lightly browned cheese topping.

Notes

  • Use lean ground beef to reduce excess grease.
  • Choose your preferred salsa heat level (mild, medium, or hot) to suit your taste.
  • To make cleanup easier, line the pie dish with foil before layering.
  • Serve warm with tortilla chips or sliced veggies.
  • Leftovers can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven.
