Ingredients

Scale

Salmon Fillets

  • 4 skinless salmon fillets (170 g each)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Seafood Stuffing

  • 120 g lump crab meat
  • 120 g cooked shrimp, chopped
  • 60 g cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 30 g breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Cooking

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare Seafood Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the chopped shrimp, lump crab meat, softened cream cheese, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, paprika, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined and set aside.
  2. Shape and Season Salmon Fillets: Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F). Using a sharp knife, carefully make a pocket down the center of each salmon fillet without cutting through the other side. Season both sides and the inside of the pocket with salt and black pepper to taste.
  3. Stuff and Secure Salmon: Evenly fill each salmon pocket with the prepared seafood stuffing. If needed, secure the edges of the fillets with toothpicks to keep the filling inside while cooking.
  4. Sear Stuffed Salmon: Heat the olive oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Place the stuffed salmon fillets in the skillet and sear them for 2 to 3 minutes per side, until the exterior is lightly browned and crisp.
  5. Bake to Finish: Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake the salmon for 12 to 15 minutes until the fillets become opaque throughout and the seafood filling is warmed through.
  6. Plate and Garnish: Remove the skillet from the oven. Serve the stuffed salmon fillets on plates, garnished with fresh lemon wedges to squeeze over the top, enhancing the flavors with a bright citrus note.

Notes

  • Use fresh lump crab meat and cooked shrimp for the best flavor.
  • Be careful not to cut all the way through the salmon when making the pocket.
  • To avoid losing filling during cooking, securing the edges with toothpicks is recommended.
  • Serve with a side of steamed vegetables or a light salad for a balanced meal.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
