Ingredients

Scale

Protein and Vegetables

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)

Sauce

  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 3 tbsp sriracha sauce
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)

Other

  • 2 tbsp olive oil (divided)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, sriracha, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and optional sesame oil until well combined. Set aside.
  2. Cook the broccoli: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add broccoli florets and sauté for 3–4 minutes until they are just tender but still crisp. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. Brown the chicken: Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the skillet. Add ground chicken, season with salt and black pepper, and cook while breaking it apart with a spatula until browned and cooked through, about 5–6 minutes.
  4. Add garlic: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  5. Add sauce and simmer: Pour the prepared honey sriracha sauce over the cooked chicken and stir well to coat. Let the mixture simmer for 2–3 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens.
  6. Toss broccoli with chicken: Return the cooked broccoli to the skillet and toss everything together so the chicken and broccoli are evenly coated with the sauce.
  7. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle sesame seeds and sliced green onions on top just before serving for added flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Use tamari as a gluten-free soy sauce alternative if needed.
  • Adjust sriracha and red pepper flakes to control the heat level.
  • Fresh broccoli adds more crunch but frozen broccoli works fine when thawed.
  • For a nuttier flavor, you can toast the sesame seeds before garnishing.
  • Serve with steamed rice or cauliflower rice for a complete meal.
