Ingredients

Scale

Meatballs

  • 2 pounds lean ground turkey
  • 1 cup whole wheat breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ cup onion, finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes

Sauce

  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 Tablespoons sriracha sauce
  • 3 Tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 Tablespoons rice vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • 3 teaspoons minced garlic
  • ½ teaspoon sesame oil

Garnish (Optional)

  • ¼ cup green onions, diced
  • 1 Tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 375℉ to ensure it’s ready for baking the meatballs evenly.
  2. Prepare baking sheet: Lightly spray a large baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking and set it aside.
  3. Mix meatball ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, whole wheat breadcrumbs, eggs, finely chopped onion, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  4. Form meatballs: Shape the mixture into approximately 1½-inch meatballs. You should get about 35-40 meatballs total. Place each meatball onto the prepared baking sheet, spaced evenly.
  5. Bake meatballs: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the meatballs are cooked through and reach an internal temperature of 165℉.
  6. Make the sauce: While the meatballs bake, combine honey, sriracha sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, ground ginger, minced garlic, and sesame oil in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring continuously. Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 3-5 minutes until thickened.
  7. Glaze meatballs: Remove the baked meatballs from the oven and pour the prepared honey sriracha sauce evenly over them, coating thoroughly.
  8. Garnish and serve: If desired, sprinkle diced green onions and sesame seeds over the glazed meatballs for added flavor and presentation. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Use lean ground turkey to keep the meatballs healthy and reduce fat content.
  • Adjust the amount of sriracha if you prefer less or more heat in the sauce.
  • Ensure meatballs are evenly sized to allow uniform cooking in the oven.
  • Whole wheat breadcrumbs add extra fiber and nutrition compared to regular breadcrumbs.
  • Leftover meatballs can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • These meatballs can also be served with rice, noodles, or in a sandwich for a complete meal option.
