Meat Layer
- 1 lb ground beef
- 3 tbsp taco seasoning (1 store bought packet)
Base Layer
Creamy Layer
- 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1.5 tbsp taco seasoning (half of packet)
Toppings
- 4 oz lettuce (shredded)
- 1/2 cup tomatoes (diced)
- 1/4 cup green onions (diced)
- 1/2 cup Mexican blend cheese (shredded)
- 1/4 cup black olives (sliced)
- 1/4 cup jalapeno slices (optional)
- Cook the Ground Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat, then stir in half of the taco seasoning (1.5 tbsp). Set aside to cool slightly.
- Spread Refried Beans: In the bottom of a 2.5-quart casserole dish, evenly spread the refried beans to form the base layer of the dip.
- Mix Creamy Layer: In a bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, and the remaining taco seasoning. Mix thoroughly until smooth. Spread this mixture evenly over the refried beans layer.
- Add Taco Meat and Toppings: Layer the seasoned ground beef evenly on top of the cream cheese mixture. Then add shredded lettuce, Mexican blend cheese, diced tomatoes, green onions, black olives, and jalapeno slices (if using) to create a colorful, loaded top layer.
- Serve: Serve the dip immediately with tortilla chips or sweet peppers. Optionally, chill for up to 4 hours before serving to meld the flavors.
