A refreshing and visually appealing Watermelon Feta Appetizer featuring star-shaped watermelon slices topped with feta cheese stars and blueberries, perfect for summer parties or light gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Fruits

  • 1/2 large watermelon or 1 small watermelon
  • 24 blueberries

Cheese

  • 12 oz / 340 g feta cheese

Instructions

  1. Slice Watermelon. Place the watermelon on a cutting board and hold it firmly with one hand. Using a long, sharp knife, cut the watermelon into 1/3-inch (1 cm) thick slices carefully.
  2. Cut Watermelon Stars. Use a star-shaped cookie cutter to cut stars out of each watermelon slice. Arrange the slices close together to maximize the number of stars you can cut. Save the leftover watermelon for other uses like a watermelon cooler.
  3. Slice Feta Cheese. Cut the block of feta cheese lengthwise into 1/3-inch (1 cm) thick slices.
  4. Cut Feta Stars. Using the same star-shaped cutter, cut star shapes out of the feta slices, placing them close together for efficiency. Use the leftover feta pieces for salads, dips, or marinating.
  5. Assemble Skewers. Place a feta star on top of a watermelon star, then top with a blueberry. Secure all layers by pushing a skewer or toothpick through the center.
  6. Serve. Arrange the assembled watermelon stars on a serving platter. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve. Enjoy your fresh and delightful appetizer!

Notes

  • Use leftover watermelon flesh to make a refreshing watermelon cooler to avoid waste.
  • Leftover feta cheese scraps can be crumbled over salads, whipped into dips, or marinated for another use.
  • Ensure the knife used to slice watermelon and feta is sharp to maintain clean star shapes.
  • Prepare this dish shortly before serving to keep the watermelon and blueberries fresh and juicy.
  • This appetizer is perfect for summer gatherings and parties as a light, fresh starter.
